Insta News Telugu ("we", "our", "the app") is a Telugu-language news and messaging application. Our contact email is [email protected].
We collect the following categories of personal data when you use the app:
- Account information — email address and display name provided at registration.
- Profile data — username, profile photo (if you upload one), and avatar preferences stored on your device and in our database.
- Messages — direct messages (DMs) you send or receive, including text, images, and shared news items. Disappearing messages are removed automatically after they have been seen.
- News interactions — articles you bookmark, reactions (like or dislike) you apply to news items, and content impressions (which articles you have viewed).
- Device and notification tokens — push notification tokens used to deliver breaking-news alerts when you enable notifications.
- Usage data — in-app actions used for abuse prevention, safety workflows, and product analytics (e.g. which features are used).
- Support correspondence — emails or in-app reports you submit to our support team.
- Precise GPS location (we do not request location permission).
- Contacts or call logs from your device.
- Payment card or financial information.
- Data from children under 13 knowingly — see Section 9.
- Account operation — creating and authenticating your account, recovering access.
- Core features — delivering news, messaging, reels, and live channels.
- Personalisation — saving bookmarks and preferences across devices.
- Safety and moderation — investigating reports, enforcing community guidelines, and preventing abuse.
- Notifications — sending breaking-news alerts if you have opted in.
- Product improvement — understanding how features are used to fix bugs and improve the experience.
- Supabase (supabase.com) — database, file storage, and authentication. Data is stored on servers managed by Supabase and its underlying provider, Amazon Web Services.
- Expo / EAS (expo.dev) — push notification delivery and over-the-air app updates.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — notification delivery on Android devices.
- Apple Push Notification Service — notification delivery on iOS devices.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use advertising SDKs or third-party ad networks.
- Account and profile data is retained until you delete your account.
- Disappearing chat messages are deleted automatically once seen (typically within seconds).
- Standard chat messages and shared images are retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of an account-deletion request.
- Notification tokens are deleted when you sign out or revoke permission.
- Safety and moderation records (reports, admin actions) may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion for legal and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Support correspondence is retained for up to 12 months.
- Access — you may request a summary of what personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion — you may delete your account and all associated data in-app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing us.
- Correction — you may update your display name and profile photo at any time in-app.
- Portability — you may request a copy of your data in a common format by emailing support.
- Objection / restriction — you may contact us to object to specific processing activities.

All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Data at rest is stored in Supabase with row-level security policies that ensure users can only access their own data.
The app is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that a user under 13 has created an account, we will delete the account and associated data promptly. Contact [email protected] to report a concern.
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
